A PARTY WITH A PURPOSE
Honor Flight will be honoring veterans who cannot go to Washington, DC, for the experience by simulating the event right here in The Villages. On Saturday, September 27, at 1 P.M. at the American Legion on Rolling Acres Road, a group of 14 veterans, including Pittsburgh Club Member Ralph Voelker, will meet and then be taken to a recreation center for the simulation experience. Shortly thereafter they will return by bus to the Legion where they can be given the veterans' welcome they deserve. Everyone is invited to be among the welcome committee at the Legion.
Bring a folding chair and a flag to wave during the reception (or one will be loaned to you). Enjoy entertainment while you wait for the bus to return to the lot (around 2 p.m.) and then give a rousing cheer for its passengers. Coffee and water will be available, but you're invited to bring a cooler of your own. No alcohol is permitted.
Club member Terry Bauer is a volunteer for Honor Flight and invites you to contact her with any questions: 874-4675. If you'd like to write a note to Ralph (or any of the other veterans whom you might know will be involved in this event) you may do so and send it to Honor Flight Mail Call, P.O. Box 1957, Lady Lake, FL 32158-1957 or bring it to the Pittsburgh Club Meeting September 18 and Terry will see that it gets delivered.
