Dear Fellow Pittsburgh Club Members:
Thanks to all who attended our November 16 meeting at
Mulberry Grove Recreation Center where some 80
Pittsburgh Club members saluted our U.S. military
veterans and jogged their memories in a game of
The "Salute to Veterans" kicked off with a presentation
of the colors (U.S. and service branch) by an Honor
Guard from American Legion Post 347, Lady Lake, and the
Pledge of Allegiance. Thanks go out to member Harold
Cole for arranging the Honor Guard and to Guard
Commander Joan Suelter for a moving ceremony that put
everyone in a patriotic mood.
Other highlights of our "Salute" included a display of
vets' military memorabilia and an opportunity for all
of the veterans in attendance to stand, be recognized
and say a few words about their military service.
Thanks go out to those members who provided
memorabilia for the display, namely Harold Cole, Paul
Collins, Pat Hoover, Cathy Johnson, Bob Keeney, Janet
Lockhart, Steve Shumlas, Bill Smith, Sandy Thomas and
Clancy Weir. I also participated in the display. My
apologies if I missed any who participated.
In the Pittsburgh Trivia contest, 13 members at the
first- and second-place winning tables took home
Pittsburgh-theme prizes, including "Yinzer" socks,
Pittsburgh skyline trivets, Reymer's Blennd
concentrate, and Isaly's chipped ham barbecue sauce.
All who participated received official "Heinz Pickle
In other news, it was reported that:

Catering. The cost is $20 per member and $25 per

Some 80 people already have signed up for the event.
Members who remain interested in the December 14 bus
trip to the World Golf Hall of Fame and St. Augustine
Christmas lights display, but have not signed up,
should contact President Joe Walker at 352-633-1100 or email@example.com.
A black and gold Pittsburgh Club hat was left on a
table at the November 16 meeting. The owner may pick
it up by contacting Joe Walker by phone or email, or I
will bring it to the December 7 Christmas dinner/dance.
Several members who attended a recent dine-about at Guy
Fieri's restaurant failed to collect their $5 deposits.
Dine-abouts coordinator Peg Henderson will have them
available at the dinner/dance.
The January 18 meeting will feature "Mulberry Downs
Horse Racing" with Jack Schaedel and his team.
Membership renewal will run from January through March
Efforts to find a suitable venue to relocate club
meetings to a more central recreation center have thus
fare proved fruitless. The club leadership may revisit
this issue next fall.
Thanks to all for being Pittsburgh Club members. I
hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and I look
forward to seeing you in at the Christmas Party next
