Larry Lasky -- President

Born in Pittsburgh; raised in the lower part of Bloomfield known as "Arsenal" until age 14 when I moved to Main Street, across from the Bloomfield Bridge.  After graduating from Washington Vocational High School  I moved to Crafton while attending California State University of Pennsylvania.  After marriage we lived in Frank & Seder's old home in East Liberty until moving to Penn Hills where we remained for 32 years.

Former career:  I was a factory worker, truck driver, gas station attendant, teacher, faculty manager of athletics and science department head.  I took an early retirement from the Pittsburgh Public Schools at age 53.

When did you come to The Villages:  November of  2001.

What Village do you live in:  Polo Ridge

Hobbies:  Golf, photography, kite flying, cart cruising, computer, travel, cards and board games, and the Pittsburgh Club.

Marital Status:  After dating her for five years, I married Joan on June 17, 1967.  We have no children.

 

Joan Lasky -- President

Born and raised on Polish Hill (a small community located between Lawrenceville and Bigelow Blvd. below the Hill District); lived in East Liberty for 2 years and then in Penn Hills for 32 years.

Former career:  I spent my entire career at the Pittsburgh Board of Public Education, the last 25 years in the Law Department as a legal assistant.  Before that,  I sold hot dogs at Tom and Jerry's Refreshment Stand outside Forbes Field.

When did you come to the Villages:  November of  2001

What Village do you live in:  Polo Ridge

Hobbies:  Golf, yoga, water aerobics, travel, Mah Jongg, entertaining, cards and board games, and the Pittsburgh Club


Pat Keeney -- Vice President

I was born in Youngstown, Ohio, moved to Ellwood City, PA when I was 6 years old. After high school, I went to Columbia Hospital in Pittsburgh,  graduating I became an RN after passing Pennsylvania State Boards.

Former career:  We moved to Latrobe PA in 1972, I worked at Latrobe Area Hospital for approximately 17 years primarily in ICU/CCU, I was on the Speakers Bureau for the Hospital, involved in Cardiology classes for the nurses, did pacemaker clinic, read Holter Monitors, involved in Mended Hearts program. While working at the Hospital I attended night school at The University of Pittsburgh in Greensburg, graduating in 1989 with a BS in Business. I left the Hospital and became Director of Nursing in long term care, at Greenburg Nursing and Convalesant Center, and then I became the Nursing Home Administrator at GNCC, after passing a state board and Federal testing.

What Village do you live in: We built our first home in Glenbrook.  In 2005 we moved to Tall Trees.

Hobbies: Golf, biking, reading,  Sudoku, Vice-President of the Villages Nurses Club.

Marital status: Married for 44 years to Bob , married in November 1963, we have a daughter & son, and have 4 grandchildren.

Rose Rose Haverlack -- Vice President

Born: I was born in Pittsburgh, PA. I bought my first home in the North Hills of Pittsburgh where I lived for 25 years before retiring from teaching in 2005.

Former Career:  I graduated from Schenley High School in 1968 and immediately entered Indiana University of Pennsylvania where I received a degree in Secondary English Education. In 1974 I received a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Pittsburgh and proceeded to teach for 33 years in the Pittsburgh Public School system. Perry Traditional Academy was my last stop in the PPS before arriving here--heaven on Earth.

Arrival: I arrived in The Villages in July of 2005 where my dog allows me to live with her in the courtyard villa that she allows me to furnish and pay for each month. We love it.

Hobbies:  Swimming, MahJongg, reading, writing, and driving my dog around in "her" golf cart.

Marital Status:   Single.

Warren Cromer -- Treasurer

Born in Cleveland, OH.  Moved to Allison Park, PA, when I was 38; lived there for 20 years until I retired in 2001.

Former career: My career was in the Management Information Systems Department of Alcoa where I spent 12 years at their Cleveland plant as a Systems Analyst.  I was transferred to the corporate office in Pittsburgh in 1980 where I was the Storage Administrator.  Later I became Asset Manager.  I took early retirement at age 58 after working 32 years for Alcoa.

What Village do you live in:  Glenbrook

Hobbies:  Travel, Billiards, Bike Riding, Golf, Playing Card Games and keeping up with computer activities such as maintaining the club Web site.

Marital status:  I married my current wife, Nancy, in 1993.  Married 25 years on my first marriage; 4 children; 5 grandchildren.
